| This latest apparatus provides a foolproof alternative to the traditional “Bell in a Bell Jar” demonstration. It comprises a high amplitude, battery powered piezo sounder enclosed within a clear acrylic tube. The sounder is controlled by switch and has a red LED attached to show that it is on. By inserting the stopper in one end and evacuating the tube using a standard laboratory vacuum pump, the air can be removed and the effect of sound being unable to pass through a vacuum clearly demonstrated.
